A word from the director
Plenty is happening as we head towards the end of the year. We are currently aboard a superyacht visiting Australia, assisting with lifting equipment inspections, load testing and certification, along with a broader range of onboard engineering works. It is a good example of the technical and compliance support we can provide to larger yachts visiting Australia.
Pier 25 is well underway, and we are looking forward to a dedicated MSA showroom and a stronger presence within The Boat Works superyacht facility. In November we head to METSTRADE in Amsterdam, attending with support from the Queensland Government, to meet international suppliers and partners and keep building our presence in the industry.
Vessel delivery and routine care
Another service we are looking to promote more is our vessel support and delivery capability. We can collect a vessel, bring it to our Gold Coast facility for servicing and maintenance, and return it to its home berth, with support available from Cairns through to Sydney.
We are also developing a routine vessel care program for owners who are not always able to attend their vessel: regular inspections, checking bilges and moisture levels, cycling onboard systems, running pumps, toilets and air conditioning, starting engines and generators, and generally making sure the vessel remains operational and ready to use. If that would suit your vessel, contact us and we will keep you posted as the program takes shape.
Hard to believe Christmas is nearly here already.
In the workshop: a twin Muir windlass overhaul on a sailing yacht
Both gearboxes were stripped and rebuilt on new Muir shafts, bearings and seals, the corroded housings blasted, primed and painted, and the windlasses refitted, greased and proven on deck. The starboard shaft was seized solid in its gearbox and came out through a controlled cut in the chain locker. Six weeks alongside, handed back operational.
Showroom: Northern Lights generators in stock
If you know Northern Lights, you know their philosophy is simple: the fewer the moving parts, the fewer the things that can fail. That is why their generators run at 1800 rpm for long engine life, use gear-driven pumps instead of belts, offer single-side servicing, and come backed by a 5 Year Warranty. As an authorised dealer, we supply, install and service the full range: built tough, built smart and built for years of reliable onboard power.
News: five stars for the windlass job
This month's standout feedback came from the captain of the sailing yacht above, whose windlass work was carried out by one of our engineers and resulted in a five-star Google review. His attention to detail, calm problem solving and deep technical knowledge set the benchmark for the standard we aim to deliver on every job. It is always rewarding to see the team recognised for the work they do on the dock and in the workshop, and getting things right the first time is exactly why clients keep coming back.
