Marine Electronics & Electrical — Gold Coast
Navigation and comms electronics, Starlink and onboard connectivity, rewiring, lithium and switchboards — installed and serviced at Gold Coast City Marina and dockside across SE Queensland. Licensed marine electricians, every job tested, documented and signed off.
Marine electronics and electrical on the Gold Coast
Marine Solutions Australia installs and services marine electronics and marine electrical systems from Gold Coast City Marina, Coomera — navigation and comms electronics, Starlink and onboard connectivity, rewiring, lithium battery systems, switchboards and shore power — on recreational, commercial and superyacht vessels across South East Queensland. Marine electrical and electronics is one of our two core specialisms.
The work is done by licensed marine electricians to Australian wiring standards, and we diagnose faults across the whole circuit rather than swapping parts and hoping. Most jobs can be handled dockside by our mobile vans — a mobile marine electrician at your berth — with larger rewires, switchboard builds and lithium installs completed in the Coomera workshop.
Whether you’re fitting out a new helm, adding Starlink, upgrading to lithium, chasing an intermittent fault or wiring a job into a wider refit, we test, document and sign off every job — and support it for the life of the vessel.
Electrical and electronics, done to standard
Marine wiring is unforgiving — salt, vibration and shared earths punish shortcuts, and a bad install is a fire, corrosion or breakdown waiting to happen. Our licensed marine electricians work to Australian wiring standards, trace faults across the whole circuit, and document the work for insurers and surveyors. We install and service the major electronics and power brands, and back every job with mobile support across South East Queensland.

Navigation, comms and onboard electronics
From a single chartplotter to a full helm fit-out, we supply, mount, network and commission marine electronics so the whole system works together — then service it and fault-find it, on every major brand.
Navigation & MFDs
Chartplotters, multifunction displays, depth and fish sounders, autopilots and instrument packs — supplied, mounted and networked so the whole helm talks to itself rather than running as separate boxes.
Radar & sonar
Dome and open-array radar, CHIRP and structure-scanning sonar and forward-looking sensors — sized to the vessel, mounted properly and tuned on the water so they actually perform when it matters.
VHF, comms & safety
VHF/DSC radios, AIS transponders and receivers, EPIRBs, antennas, hailers and intercoms — wired, programmed and tested so you’re seen and heard, and the safety gear works when you need it.
Integration & digital switching
NMEA 2000 and 0183 backbones, digital switching and helm integration so displays, sensors, lighting and systems work as one network — clean, documented and easy to expand later.
Audio, AV & cameras
Marine audio, TV and satellite, AV distribution and onboard cameras or CCTV — installed neatly and weather-rated for the marine environment, not bodged in like a car stereo.
Monitoring & alarms
Tank, bilge, battery and engine monitoring, NMEA gateways and alarm systems so you can see what the boat is doing at a glance — and get warned before a problem becomes a callout.
Starlink and onboard internet, installed for the sea
Staying connected offshore has gone from luxury to expectation. We install Starlink and full onboard networks — mounted, powered and weatherproofed for the marine environment, not a domestic kit cable-tied to the rail.
Starlink marine
Supply and installation of Starlink hardware for boats — marine-grade mounting, power, cabling and weatherproofing for reliable internet at the dock, at anchor and offshore.
Onboard wifi & networks
Vessel-wide wifi, routers and access points so phones, MFDs, crew and guests stay connected throughout the boat — no dead spots between the flybridge and the engine room.
Cellular & antennas
4G/5G routers, external antennas and automatic source switching between Starlink, cellular and marina wifi — so the boat always finds the best connection without you fiddling.
Rewiring, power and switchboards — done safely
The electrical side is where corners get cut and faults get born. We rewire, build and upgrade switchboards, install lithium and shore power, and fault-find across the whole circuit — all to Australian standards and documented.
Rewiring & looms
Full and partial rewires, new looms, proper terminations and labelling — replacing tired, corroded or unsafe wiring with work done to Australian standards and built to last in salt air.
Lithium & battery systems
Lithium and AGM house and start banks, battery management, DC-DC chargers and inverter/chargers — sized for your real loads and installed safely, with the protection lithium needs.
Switchboards & distribution
AC and DC switchboards, distribution panels, breakers and digital switching — built, upgraded and clearly labelled so power is safe, serviceable and easy to fault-find later.
Shore power & charging
Shore-power inlets, galvanic isolators and isolation transformers, battery chargers and changeover — safe dockside power without the corrosion and safety risks of a poor install.
Fault-finding & diagnostics
Whole-circuit diagnosis of intermittent and persistent electrical faults — we trace the cause across the system rather than swapping parts and hoping, then fix it properly.
Isolation & safety testing
Insulation and isolation testing, RCD, polarity and bonding checks and corrosion diagnosis — keeping the vessel, crew and marina safe and your insurer satisfied.
New onboard power often pairs with a generator upgrade, a watermaker or thruster and stabiliser control wiring while the boat’s already in the shed. New instruments and wiring are also a natural part of an engine repower — and storm or lightning damage is handled through our insurance repairs.
A mobile marine electrician — plus a full Coomera workshop
Most electrical and electronics work doesn’t need the boat hauled. Our service vans bring the workshop to your berth across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and SE Queensland — carrying test gear, meters and common parts — so diagnostics, repairs, electronics installs and Starlink fit-outs happen where the boat is.
When a job is bigger — a full rewire, a switchboard rebuild, a lithium conversion — we bring it into the Coomera workshop at Gold Coast City Marina, where we’ve the bench space, the parts and the rest of the engineering team on hand. Either way, you get the same licensed electricians and the same documented sign-off.
The brands we fit, and the paperwork that backs it
We’re brand-agnostic on electronics and rigorous on compliance — the right system for your boat, installed and documented so it stands up to a surveyor, an insurer and the sea.
Brands we install and service
We install and service the major marine electronics and power brands — Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad, B&G, Lowrance, Furuno, Fusion, Victron and Starlink among them — and we’re not tied to pushing one badge. We recommend what suits your vessel and what’s already aboard, then network it so it works as one system. We also fault-find and service gear fitted by others.
Lithium and power, installed safely
Lithium gives more usable capacity and faster charging, but only with the right protection, charging sources and monitoring. We design the whole picture — banks, BMS, chargers, inverters and distribution — sized to your loads and installed safely, so the upgrade is a step forward, not a hazard.
Whole-circuit fault-finding
Marine electrical faults are rarely where they first appear. We diagnose across the whole circuit — connections, earths, bonding, switchboards and the device — to find the real cause rather than swapping parts and hoping, then fix it and, where it helps, tidy and label the wiring so the next one’s easier.
Documented for insurers and survey
We work to Australian wiring standards and record what we did — test results, descriptions and compliance documentation — for insurers, surveyors and AMSA survey. It’s the same rigour we bring to insurance storm and lightning repairs and superyacht work, and it protects both your claim and your vessel’s compliance.

Marine electronics & electrical — common questions
Mobile callouts and cost, Starlink, lithium upgrades, finding intermittent faults, the brands we install, and documentation for insurance and survey.
Do you offer mobile marine electrician callouts on the Gold Coast?
Yes. Our marine electricians work dockside and on the water right across South East Queensland — from Gold Coast City Marina and Coomera through the broader Gold Coast, Brisbane and northern NSW. The vans carry test gear and common parts, so most diagnostics, repairs and smaller installs are done at your berth without hauling the boat. Larger jobs — full rewires, switchboard builds, lithium installs — are usually completed in our Coomera workshop. Call 07 5612 7161 and we’ll arrange a mobile callout or a workshop booking to suit.
How much does a marine electrician cost on the Gold Coast?
There’s no flat rate — marine electrical work is quoted to the job, because a quick fault-find at the dock and a full rewire are very different pieces of work. The main drivers are the time on board, whether it’s a mobile callout or a workshop job, the parts and electronics involved, and how accessible the wiring is on your vessel. For straightforward diagnostics we’ll give you an estimate up front; for installs and rewires we quote in writing before any work begins, so there are no surprises. Call 07 5612 7161 with your vessel and what you need and we’ll talk you through likely cost and the best way to tackle it.
Can you install Starlink on my boat?
Yes — Starlink for marine use is one of the fastest-growing jobs we do. We supply and install the hardware with marine-grade mounting, proper power and cabling and full weatherproofing, then integrate it with an onboard wifi network so phones, MFDs and crew devices all share the connection. We can also set up automatic switching between Starlink, cellular and marina wifi so the boat always picks the best available link. Whether it’s a flybridge cruiser or a superyacht, we’ll mount and wire it to last in the marine environment rather than bodging a domestic kit on board.
How much does it cost to install Starlink on a boat, and does it work offshore?
Installation cost depends on the hardware you choose and the mounting, power and cabling your boat needs — a simple flat-mount on a flybridge is quicker than running cable through a superyacht and integrating it with an existing network — so we quote the install to your vessel after looking at where the dish goes and how it ties into onboard power and wifi. On coverage: Starlink works well at the dock, at anchor and in coastal and many offshore waters where there’s service, using the marine or roaming plans suited to how far you cruise. We’ll set up the right plan and hardware for your cruising area and make sure it switches cleanly with cellular and marina wifi.
Do you do marine lithium battery system upgrades?
Yes. We design and install lithium house and start banks, battery management systems, DC-DC chargers, inverter/chargers and the distribution to suit — sized to your real continuous and peak loads rather than guesswork. Lithium delivers more usable capacity and faster charging than lead-acid, but it has to be installed correctly: appropriate protection, charging sources and monitoring all matter for safety and longevity. We handle the full upgrade, document it, and can pair it with shore power, solar or a generator so the whole charging picture works together.
Can you find an intermittent electrical fault?
Yes — intermittent faults are exactly what whole-circuit diagnosis is for. Rather than swapping parts and hoping, our electricians trace the fault across the entire circuit — connections, terminations, earth and bonding paths, switchboards and the device itself — to find the actual cause. Salt, vibration and corrosion make marine wiring faults notoriously elusive, so we test methodically, fix the root cause and, where it helps, tidy and label the wiring so the next fault is far easier to find. We document what we found and what we did.
What navigation and electronics brands do you install?
We install and service the major marine electronics and power brands — including Garmin, Raymarine, Simrad, B&G, Lowrance, Furuno, Fusion, Victron and Starlink — and we’re not tied to selling you one badge. We recommend the system that suits your vessel, how you use it and what’s already on board, then network it so it all works together. We also service and fault-find electronics and electrical systems fitted by others, whether or not we supplied them.
Do you document electrical work for insurance or survey?
Yes. We carry out and record marine electrical work to Australian wiring standards and provide documentation — test results, descriptions of work and compliance records — for insurers, surveyors and AMSA survey where required. It’s the same rigour we bring to insurance storm and lightning damage repairs and to commercial and superyacht work, and it protects both your claim and your vessel’s compliance. Tell us what your insurer or surveyor needs and we’ll make sure the paperwork supports it.
Need a marine electrician or an electronics fit-out?
Tell us your vessel and what you’re after — navigation electronics, Starlink, a rewire, lithium or a fault you can’t pin down. We’ll quote it, install it, test it and document it. Mobile across SE Queensland.
